Painters today podcast on way to work and in studio this week: Fiona Rae

Studio Culture:

Dobrowoski talk

Dobrowoski: well rehearsed and entertaining talk about practice and use of model trains as a vehicle for political comment, humour and a way to engage the public into an artwork – races in a library, drive thru in an empty warehouse. Studio practice is in a small shed in his garden and practice – which is installation/performance – is presented as a narrative within his talk. Much of his work is crafted within the studio but is given life by working in a variety of spaces, Rather than making permanent artworks, his work is recorded using video/photos and is stored when not in use. Exciting to hear artist talking about his work and engaging and exciting ideas with social and political comment and inspired by the lengths gone to for the happenings to take place. Reminded me of the work of Doug Fishbone re: the art lecture and performance art.

Pecha Kucha task 50 Artworks

Given task of making 50 Artworks in 2 weeks : Began work on Cav experiments and exploring Risograph, this then turned into a broader exploration of print media, using Mono prints ( inspired by Jeanette Barnes) and then into screen printing, which became a final layer, with the textiles fabric print outs that I had made from a photo of one of my paintings. I found the 50 artworks tasks, inspired me to look around the Universities facilities and explore.

My work and anything inspiring....

Own practice taking the form of working in my home where I am grappling with my approach to the Cavendish work. I am looking at 3 different ways -

1. Monochrome Cav Paint & drawing on canvas, which will be layered in white then drawn a new frame over the top and layered in white and so on.

2. Purple ground, line drawing without any drawing - after Carters approach working from wasjhed out print out from the frame taken from live video

3. Purple ground and outline paint to begin this week
